Hypnosis is a natural state of mind, sometimes mistakenly thought of as sleep or unconsciousness. It is an altered state where the conscious mind is bypassed and the subconscious can be accessed. It is sometimes referred to as focused awareness or trance.
We all experience altered states of mind each and every day of our lives. It is a similar feeling to when one drives home from work, arriving home not remembering passing a particular area or landmark and yet arriving home safely. It is also similar to when we allow our minds to drift off to other thoughts, whilst watching TV or even listening to another person.
The subconscious mind is far more powerful than the conscious mind. It “tape records” all experience. It is a way to emotions, past events, suppressed, repressed or forgotten feelings by the conscious mind.
